*
Q

What is a prescription?

*
A A prescription is popularly called a "prescription slip."
In accordance with NHI regulations, a physician should decide the type, quantity, and usage instruction of the drug that the patient needs to take.
*

*
Q

What does a prescription include?

*
A 1. Name of the patient, age of the patient (or date of birth)
2. Diagnosis, physician's signature (or chop), name, address, and phone number of the hospital.
3. The drug's name, type, unit dosage content, quantity, dosage and usage instruction, expiration date of the prescription, the date the prescription has been issued, prescription refill instruction (how many times the patient can refill the prescription and the period of time between refills).

Q

Regulations governing the use of the average prescription?

*
A

1. If the prescription is for oral use, a three-day supply is given, if it is for external use, a five-day supply is given. The physician can also give a maximum seven-day supply depending upon the patient's condition. If you are diagnosed with a chronic disease, the physician can write you a 30-day prescription.
2. If the pharmacy doesn't happen to have the particular drug noted by the doctor on the prescription, substitutes with the same ingredients, form and dosage may be prescribed. However, substitutes cannot be more expensive than the original drug and must be covered by the NHI.
3. Patients with prescription from the doctor can pick up their medicines at the pharmacy. They may be given chronic illness prescription refill slip depending upon their condition.
