 Out hospital is one of the District Teaching Hospitals that are in the jurisdiction of Veterans Affairs Commission (VAC), Executive Yuan. It is located in Hsia Gong Guan area in Chutung Township, Hsinchu County, and it takes6 hectares. The antecedent of Chutung Veterans Hospital was the First Medical Team of the Army. On September 1, 1955, Veterans Affairs Commission (VAC) became responsible for the administration of the hospital. In 1990, with permissions from the government, its organization was greatly expanded, a considerable number of specialists were recruited, and great new buildings were constructed while old ones underwent renovations. With extensive implementation of modern equipment, Chutung VH is now recognized as one of the most well-equipped local hospitals in Taiwan. In the same year, our hospital established a co-operation program with Taipei Veterans General Hospital, and the Department of Health credited it as the local general teaching hospital. Statistics indicates approximately 1000 outpatients daily, along with 550 in-patients. Our hospital is responsible for the health and welfare of the veterans, their dependents and the general public in Hsinchu and Miaoli. In addition to that, it undertakes the two fundamental tasks of teaching and training. In the future, it will become one of the so-called “medical network responsible” hospitals whose services will cover the Hsinchu area and Nine Townships in Chutung Area. For over forty years, our hospital has the support and encouragement from the commending officers, and the team work among the employees, it has become a modern district teaching hospital, and we will continue to grow and develop to provide patients with better medical service.
